Summer Health Tips

Summer is here... get ready for BBQ's, popsciles, water fun and vacationing.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each season has its own attributes and if you're tuned into them, you can enhance your health, energy and feel great having a good ol' time.

It's best to live harmoniously with the season's attributes much like it's best to eat seasonal fruit.

We know that Summer is HOT and it's an active season which makes it a YANG (as in yin and yang) time of year.

It's a time for expansion, creativity and growth.

The heart, mind and spirit are ruled by fire.

During the Summer sesaon it's important to take the time to make sure these parts of our being are cared for. Since It's a yang or very active time of year, avoiding burnout is key.

When we are out of balance with the fire element of the Summer, we may experiences insomnia, depression, mania or heartburn. 

Here are health tips to live your best Summer

  • Drink plenty of fluids

  • Stay calm and try to avoid getting angry

  • Rest during the hottest part of the day, midday

  • Wake up early and go to bed later in the evening. 

  • Take time to heal the heart and quiet the mind with meditation.
